Gifts from Nepal

Have you seen these in the Qube? Do you know what they are? No? Well let me tell you!

Gifts from Nepal

On the left Is a Buddhist Stupa, on the right is a Hindu Temple. In the 1967-68 academic year, Crown Prince Birendra of Nepal studied at Harvard as a special student. He lived in a Quincy House suite with his professor from Nepal. In 1983, now King of Nepal, Birendra came to the United States with his parents and others from the royal household. His parents presented Quincy House with these beautiful, finely rendered replicas of a stupa and a temple. The gifts are representative of the two main religions in Nepal; Buddhism and Hinduism. Sadly, King Birendra's reign ended in 2001 when he was killed in a massacre with other members of his family.
