Hannah Shi
Hi everyone! I’m Hannah Shi, a current first year at Harvard Medical School. I graduated from Yale in 2023 with a B.A. in the History of Science, Public Health, and Medicine & B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.
This past year I worked as an English Teaching Assistant in Taiwan as part of a Fulbright Fellowship. The opportunity to live and teach abroad was incredible -- things I could have never imagined myself doing back in the States, for example riding a motorcycle, became second nature in Taiwan. To cap off my gap year, I raced my first-ever marathon (placing 3rd in my age group!) and also summited Yushan, the tallest peak in Taiwan at 3952 m (12,967 ft).
Mentorship has always played a big part in my life. Besides working as a full-time English teacher last year, I’ve also peer tutored Yale’s undergraduate organic chemistry course and trained aspiring EMTs for shifts organized through Yale Emergency Services. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I’m happy to work with any students interested in navigating the TMSDAS application system alongside AMCAs.
My favorite hobbies include running, hiking, playing board games, throwing pottery, and caring for my many house plants – feel free to connect if you share any of these interests and would like to chat!
