Arham Kazi

Hey Quincy! I’m a brand new Resident Tutor and a fourth-year PhD Student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I grew up in Pakistan and came to the US as an international student for my undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University. I majored in Philosophy, completed a Masters in Philosophy at the University of Oxford shortly after, and have taught Philosophy on-and-off these past last ten years (the sharpest and most critical readers will notice there is a theme here). My primary research is on the question of what, if anything, differentiates education from indoctrination. A lot of the themes I end up focusing on include the nature of justification, agency, and the aims of education itself. 

My interests allegedly go beyond academic philosophy and teaching. I love making rock & industrial music, walks by the Charles, painting, and playwriting. I also love animals and even though I do not have a favorite, I think penguins, owls, and sheep are fascinating (in that order). As my research probably suggests, I have many thoughts on many conspiracy theories.

I can’t emphasize enough how you should just hi if you see me, or some other greeting. I wanted to be a Resident Tutor because I think this environment can foster curiosity and kindness in so many ways. I really want to be both a source of support for all of you, so do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything at all you want to chat about, big or small.
