Hello Quincy! I am delighted to be joining you this year as a resident scholar in the house. My husband John and have just completed 10 years as a Faculty Dean in Pforzheimer House up in the quad, but Quincy was my first Harvard home when I was an undergraduate, and it is awesome to be back. We are returning with our friendly Labrador rescue dog, Piper, and so looking forward to getting involved.

I grew up in New York City, where I went through the public school system. As an undergraduate, I concentrated in history and science, and then returned to the same Department where I am now a professor. As a professor, I specialize in the history of psychology, psychiatry, brain science and medicine. I am also interested in issues of mental health, mind-body medicine, health equity, interdisciplinary dialogue between science, and the humanities, and historical relationships between medicine and religion. Before returning to Harvard to teach, I lived abroad for six years – in England and Germany, with extended time in France as well. If you want to practice conversational German with me, I'm always up for that!

I am a mom (our son will be in Eliot House this year), a stepmom (6 times over), used to be a varsity light-weight rower and am a serious coffee drinker. One of my favorite places to work and study are cozy nooks in coffee shops. I also believe that ice cream should be its own food group, love skiing (but not moguls), and have a secret weakness for amusement parks and water parks.
