Hi Penguins! I’m Vaibhav and I’m excited to be returning to Quincy for my 3rd year as a resident tutor. I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and while at the College (Quincy House graduating class of 2019!) I concentrated in Chemistry and Physics with a secondary in Music and did a master’s in Chemistry. I spent the next couple of years in the UK at the University of Oxford, where I completed a PhD (DPhil) in Theoretical Physics on a Marshall Scholarship. In 2021, I came back to Boston and joined the Harvard Med/MIT MD-PhD program, where I’m now in the second year of PhD training after finishing the first half of medical school. My PhD here, funded by a Hertz Fellowship and a PD Soros Fellowship, is in the Chemistry department, where I work on combining statistical physics, evolutionary biology, and machine learning for chemistry to try to “trap” and slow down the evolution of viruses.

I also love composing symphonic and chamber classical music as well as jazz. I play piano and saxophone, and I’m always looking for other jazz musicians to jam with! I love cooking, ping pong, and recently have started getting into hiking, mainly because of my partner Anna who also a resident tutor in Quincy! I’m happy to chat about physics, chemistry, medicine, research, music, fellowships, or really anything else. (There’s a solid chance you’ll find me at the Quincy ping pong tables or the piano!)
