Hi People’s House! My name is Rachel Chen and I’m from Florham Park, NJ. I graduated from the College in 2023 — Quincy House was one of the best parts of my college experience, so I’m delighted to rejoin the penguin family as non-residential tutor this year. At the College, I studied History of Science with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy, led FOP, sang in the Noteables, and captained Club Squash. I also took a gap year in between my sophomore and junior years during COVID to do research, so I’m happy to talk to anyone thinking about taking some time away from school. After graduating, I spent a year at University of Cambridge in England, where I completed a masters degree (MPhil) in Population Health Sciences on the Primary Care Research track. I wrote my dissertation on what good care looks like in serious illness uncertainty, and my year of studies was funded by the Paul Williams Harvard-UK Fellowship. I’m now in my first year at HMS. When I’m not thinking about scaling holistic healthcare models, I love to play squash, listen to/watch musicals, and write! Let me know if you ever want to try playing squash or have any book/musical recommendations. I’m happy to chat about History of Science, medicine, research, fellowships, gap years, or truly whatever’s on your mind. Excited to meet you all soon!
