I am so excited to be starting my 5th year as your faculty dean. I look forward to getting to know you, experiencing Quincy’s time-honored traditions with you, and working with our team to make Quincy a welcoming and supportive community for everyone. Outside of the FD role, I am an associate professor in the McKeown School of Education at Salem State University. I adore my job because I get to do everything I love to do - teach future public school teachers; collaborate with colleagues on a variety of teacher-focused research projects; and help lead efforts to recruit and retain students of color who are aspiring teachers. I grew up in Isleton, California, a small farming community with a population of 900. My parents ran a gambling establishment, in our home, where members of our community gathered daily to play cards. My parents made everyone who came into our home feel welcomed and cared for. I hope I can be like them! When Eric and I are not working, we are spending time with our two boys (Justin, 13, and Nate, 9). They both play baseball and basketball. As a family, we love watching baseball, going on nature walks, and traveling the world. Finally, I am a swimmer! I go for swims often at the Mac pool. I learned how to swim late in life (age 47) - it’s never too late!
